Christmas Festivities and The Curiosity Approach

As you know at all our Preschools we follow the Curiosity Approach, which means that we follow the Seasons and this will bring Christmas to us in a natural way.

For the UK, Christmas happens during our coldest months in Winter. Therefore we will associate Christmas with snow, ice and cold weather.

Our settings will have a Christmas tree up along with natural, beautiful decorations and the children are part of this whole experience. They are involved in decorating the tree and the play room, using real and sensory decorations that they can explore including pine leaves, orange slices and cinnamon to spark curiosity.

At our Curiosity Approach settings, we share stories about the true meaning of Christmas and explore how Christmas is celebrated amongst our families. Choices to make cards are offered to the children along with the resources to create, however there will be no conveyor belt of children and handprints where its more about the adult, rather than the child themselves.

Christmas will be calm and joyful, together with all.

Very Warm Clothes and Wellies

Please provide your child with wellie boots, a change of shoes and a warm waterproof coat for Pre-School during the Winter months.

Also please dress them in warm appropriate clothing as the playroom door is continuously open (Early Years requirements) and the children access the outside area throughout the entire session. The inside area although heated before the session, can become cold during the session.

We will be using both the inside area and outside area daily – come rain, shine or snow – thank you 😊

Healthy Movers Accreditation

Back in September 2024, BCP Early Years Team introduced training across the region to all Early Years Settings to ensure that our young children grow up feeling positive about physical education and keeping healthy.

Vicky, our Manager, has attended this important training and has trained all staff so that this Physical Development programme can be embedded within our daily practice.

Your children all have the opportunity to join in daily with fun, physical activities linked to stories, music, rhymes, and experiences which enable them to learn and use Communication and Language, Social and Physical skills within their play and future learning.

Home Toys

Please can we ask you to ensure that your little ones leave their toys at home. We are having an increasing number of toys coming into each setting and being left behind or lost amongst our own toys.

We hope to avoid any heartache this way, thank you.

Take care and have a safe, wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year,,
Kind Regards

Vicky and The View Preschool Team
